well, at least you did not get used as a hostage??...interesting how you knew to take vacation just before they starting arresting americans/iranians, still I loved your view of Iran, honest yet in the end naive considering you are lucky to have been on "vacation" just before all dual citizens were arrested??"...

Not every dual national in Iran was arrested (There are some 6000 Iranian-Americans alone in Iran). Kian Tajhbakhsh and Haleh E. were both arrested while we were in Iran. So were the businessmen who have yet to be named.

Rosebuds, are you in Iran? If not, you should know that the country has a very powerful rumor mill. As I wrote earlier, my teacher friends were expressing fears of a new cultural revolution months ago: now this is regularly being reported. Nothing happened suddenly in Iran. All the signs were there for this current rollback of rights. It's just that most people in Iran wanted to ignore them.

Seriously rosebuds. If you've been reading Esther's blog, you'd know that she's been talking about the crackdown now for at least a year.Anyway, what's wrong with getting out while the getting's good when you know that something bad might happen? Is that naive or just smart?

Yeah, that's not my definition of naive.

Esther,
Are you two just on vacation or have you left for an extended period of time? (Or is that too personal to ask?). I'll go back and make sure I didn't miss it if this was covered in a previous post. Hope you're enjoying Chicago - love that town!

Don't you wish that the United States would come in there and kick Ahmadinejad's ass out, and put in a good guy who doesn't want to start WW3?

I don't think Iranians or any nation wants what the States has done to Iraq to happen to their nation.
